		The "step pyramids" at Saqqara are older than the triangular great pyramids. The Egyptians learned how to build massive pyramids as time went on. The inside walls of the Great Pyramids are covered with magical spells that we now call the "Pyramid Texts". For the most part, they are written in green paint, because this was the color of Osiris and of resurrection (think of green plants). The Nubians south of Egypt continued to build pyramids long after the Egyptians stopped. There are more pyramids in Nubia than in Egypt itself. more
